Soldier gets hit with an RPG, embeds in his body, but does not go off.

there's an X-ray film on display in the sick bay of the USS Yorktown (CV-10) here in CHS. It's of a Japanese soldier during WWII who had a mortar round embedded in his side. He was treated and saved by the brave doctors on board.

I believe the surgeon was decorated for his work in such extreme circumstances ...

I was at Orgun-E the day this happend, I watched them unload him from the medevac, one of the medics from my company assisted with the surgery, and the EOD tech you see pulling it out worked very closely with us and usually hung out in our TOC.

It was a headscratcher when I watched the medics waiting for the bird to land run away from the LZ and run back in IBA and helmets before he got there......
