I'd say far from dead although .Gov is trying their best to make it more difficult and expensive.  Belonging to a club FRIA site is best now so you don't have to buy and comply with the RFID bullshit.  Planes sell out  as fast as they come into stock nearly even with the much higher inflated prices from 1-2 years ago so someone is buying!  I'm at 118 myself!

We have a local shop that is mostly for the car hobby,  they have 3 different slot car tracks.  The place is a zoo on weekends.

I have a couple of RC cars to go with all my RC glider crap so I do head over there every once in a while when my wife breaks something on her Traxas Hoss.

I still compete in a couple of RC glider disciplines after being out of the hobby for about 20 years.  It's still fun but the guys doing it are definitely an older crowd now,  I'm mid 50s and there is only a couple of guys younger than I am,  there are some seriously old guys at the thermal style contests,  slope racing is a bit younger but it's still mostly guys my age.

I had a balsa kit in my youth and sold it. It was one of my first Ebay sales.

I currently have two, three, and four channel foamies and they are a riot. I wouldn't mind a brushless pusher jet. One of these days.

You want one of these.

Not foam, but 150+ in level flight but still slows down well.

Puts a big grin on my face every time.

That's too much. I have a smallish area to fly in. I was thinking something more like this
