Does XP have a top end for ram?  My laptop can handle up 2Gs of ram however.  I recently added a 1 GB over the stock 512 and allot of my programs don't seem to work right.  On numerous programs I get the windows error and program must close.

I'd download MemTest86 here and test your ram. WinXP will handle up to 4 gigs without a problem to my knowledge. So it probably isn't WinXP doing it. You might also want to up-size your page file too. I am running 2 gigs, as a bunch of other people here and we don't have problems with it. Does the BIOS see 1.5 gigs of ram?

Yes, the BIOS sees the RAM, I will try the page files.

Thanks, looks like it solved the problem.

It came set on Custom, and I changed it to let windows manage, and haven't had a program go down yet.

Put the larger DIMM(s) in the first slot(s) and then see what it does.

I think it was the page files, since switching to letting the computer manage the problem went away.
