Quoted: After watching your BBQ food threads, this is severely lacking. 5/10. I gave you a 5 because of the 1911. It's a change from the ordinary - I grant you that. I didn't even care about Indian food until I had this at a Christmas potluck lunch and decided that curry should now be something that I should cook... |

Quoted: Quoted: Before you complain about how it looks, you might want to look up what it's supposed to be. Even is it's supposed to look like something my dog would throw up, it still looks like something my dog would throw up. Bah. It all looks the same once you chew it anyway. Bunch of non-culinary heathens. I'll do a PB&J next time so even the barbarians can figure out what it is. |

Indian cuisine in the US is not really Indian Cuisine...just like Chinese food in the US isn't like real Chinese food...
I'll take China any day over India...India is a dreadful, dreadful place...and trust me, you wouldn't eat anything they eat, unless it was prepared in a restaurant in a five star hotel in a major city...at least in China, even though the food isn't like American Chinese food, it's pretty much all good...and I'll be in-country up in Longkou, Shandong Province all next week... I really hate India... |

Here's the recipe in case anyone is wondering:IngredientsDirections1. Heat oil and fry paneer cubes till they turn golden brown. Set aside. 2. In a separate pot, heat oil (or ghee) and mustard and cumin seeds, until they turn color and sputter. 3. Add chopped onions, ginger and garlic and cook until onions soften. 4. Add tomato, salt, sugar, and cook till the tomatoes soften. 5. Then add garam masala, chilli powder, turmeric powder coriander powder and cumin powder. 6. Add the water and stir it in, using your discretion depending on how dry the dish is. If you added too much water, just let it simmer away until much of it evaporates - you want your tomatoes soft anyway. 7. Add the peas. 8. Cook just until the peas are tender. 9. Pour in the cream, mix, and add the paneer and let simmer on medium heat for the paneer to absorb the flavors. 10. Garnish with cilantro. I usually puree with an immersion blender before step 7. |
