I just installed XP Pro with the following info:

XP PRO Build 2600.xpsp1.020828-1920: Service Pack 1

Should my next step be to download and install SP2???

I would just turn on automatic updates and let that take care of installing service pack 2 and the million other updates.

I would immediately do a microsoft update with all patches and updates asap!

after you get sp2 installed

If you use it for any work-related apps, deselect any options to install Internet Explorer 7 until you verify with your company's IT staff that it doesn't have compatibility problems. If you don't have an IT dept, then you might want to check the websites of the software vendors for compatibility warnings.
