What are the rules regarding preban configurations of these two weapons?

How does one determine preban status?

If it says "Hk" on the receiver, ist it always preban?

Thanks.

M1 Super 90 can be pre or postban with the HK marking.  You can have the 8 round tube or the pistol grip on a post ban, both on the preban.  I once had the serial number cutoff but I can't seem to find it.  Call Benelli for info on that one.

M3 Super 90?  Good question.  Call Benelli on that one.

FYI -  ATF with thier convuleted rules say that an AW must be in that config prior to the '94 date. A M1S90 must have both the PG and hold whatever # of rds to make it a "pre-ban" prior to the ban. Just like an AR lower's mfg date means nothing - it must be a AW prior to the '94 date.

Don't know where I picked this up but for the M1S90

     Serial # M198330 Man 09/19/94 Postban
