So I was unwinding a bit last night watching a few old movie clips. In one of the action scenes involving some movie policemen and federal agents chasing the bad guy. The fed agent 'requisitions' some civilian's car to keep up the chase because his vehicle got toasted. I got to thinking about it, how freaking likely is that to happen? Seriously, suppose you were in New York and some NYPD guy started flashing his badge at traffic trying to get someone to pull over. Hell I think he'd be run over before anyone stopped to let him "requisition" their vehicle. Now I'm sure that in certain extenuating circumstances, LEs can do that if necessary, but when is that last time you've ever heard of this being done? In my entire life, I've never witnessed it, had a family member who saw, nor known any friends or even friends of friends who have ever seen this happen in real life. Anyone here have? |

Is it legal, and do most state laws require cooperation in those (and a variety of similar) situations? YES. Does it happen very often, outside the movies and TV? Not very often. But realistically when wa the last time anybody in your family actually saw a real bank robbery either? |
