If I format an mp3 file as a tc volume would I be able to add that mp3 to my ipod, or would itunes reject it?

I don't care if it's not efficient or stupid, this is strictly for curiosity's sake.

WAT?

ETA. There are apps that will allow it, if storage is what you are after.

Do you mean if you STORE an MP3 file in a TrueCrypt Volume and put it in your iPod would iTUnes reject it?

Or, do you mean, if you create a TrueCrypt volume and name it something.mp3 and drag it into iTunes and to an iPod could you use it?

The latter? No.  You'd be able to store a file on an iPod but iTunes messes with media files before putting them on an iPod so the volume would be corrupted.  Use a different file type if you want to do that, like a PDF file.  There are ways to mount an iPod just like a drive on a computer, you could copy the volume on to an iPod and store it there. (You probably couldn't open it, but you could copy to a different PC and mount it with TrueCrypt.

I think I know what you mean.

If it's a .mp3 file, I think iTunes and your iPod would be groovy with it. Of course it would just throw an error if you try to play it.

I don't use i-products or i-tunes so I'm not 100%.  Try it and let us know!
