Why are they LESS secure than chuck e cheese ?
How can some shit bird walk into any school without being questioned ? How can someone plow a car onto school grounds ? The invisible wall of Gun free zones around schools sure do not work. |

We always had an officer at our HS at all times with patrolmen stopping by and patrolling the school. We had cameras in every hall and all over outside with it up on big screens in the front office for everyone to keep am eye on. All the doors to the class rooms locked and were solid core on reinforced frames. Our ROTC instructor served tours in the 90's gulf war and said he had a plan in place to neutralize any threat if police were not available. We also had to have name badges on our right collar at all times and had to be in uniform. If you we're outside a classroom not during class changing times you had to have. Permission slip with an approximate time of when you would be back. During recess, we had designated areas where we could sit and socialize which we're marked off with vinyl tape. You could bring a pocket knife to school with a blade less than 3.5 inches. We could also shoot the ROTC's bolt action .22lr rifles the week of thanksgiving to win a turkey. Now that I look back on it, it was like jail. Haha Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Think about how many schools have all glass doors. Sure, they might be locked and you have to be let in but glass aint a real good barrier. If we ever have a school shooting while I am working I plan on shooting those glass doors to gain entrance if they aren't opened. That is just one weak point.
We could change all those doors to steel doors and put bars on all the windows but that costs money and doesn't look nice. The same goes for placing vehicle barriers near the doors. It will take many more attacks on schools before we ever get serious about security. You will know when that happens becasue you will have armed security in every school and it will be a major pain in the ass to visit the school. |

I'm not sure I want my children spending their days in a prison of locked steel doors and bars on the windows. Do we also need to build high walls around the playgrounds and sports fields? search vehicles entering the parking lots? how about TSA style airport scanners before you can get on school grounds? RFID chips for every child to make sure no-one wanders off or is abducted? There are 248,000 public schools in the US, less than 10 have been attacked in the past couple of decades, school security isn't the problem, guns aren't the problem, mentally ill psychopaths are the problem and that is what we need to address. |

So its not a problem; I go by the Jewish School very often and there is a cop car in visible place every time I'm going by, oh and there is no wall around the building |

I teach at a high school with an outdoor campus and a few years ago they installed a 10 ft fence enclosing the entire campus. The only entrance is through the administration building unless you have an access key which only a few individuals have.
Every school in our district is this way. If your schools aren't this way, maybe you should go to a school board meeting instead of complaining about it on a gun forum. Don't lump all schools/districts or even teachers into one group. |
