Since the ban applies to semiautos, could you build a rifle with all 5 of the "evil" features (FS,B.Lug,Pistol grip,C. stock, and removable magazine) if the rifle was a pump-action?  Just wondering.

I myself prefer the semi-auto feature myself.[:D][uzi]

VA-gunnut,
I have to agree with you on that, but just wondering if it was possible to do an "end run" around the ban.

Yes there is. You just ignore the legal aspects. You take your post ban lower and put your collapsible stock and pre-ban upper on it. I that get you what you want. [uzi]

I wasn't talking about ignoring the legal aspects, just if the rifle was pump-action only the semiautomatic assault rifle ban would not apply.
Does anybody in the legal field care to take a stab an this question?

I'm not a lawyer, but a pump, bolt, lever, etc. rifle can have all the "evil features" you want (under federal law) as long as it meets the NFA minimum overall length (30 inches with stock folded IIRC), minimum barrel length (16 inches), etc.

In order to be restricted as a SAW the rifle must be semiautomatic and have a removable magazine.  They are not features. If you permanently convert the action to something other then semiautomatic or permanently alter the magazine so it's no longer removable you are no longer restricted to adding the other "features" under federal law.

The minimum overall length is 26" under federal law.

All of the above may be restricted by state or local law.

I think DPMS used to make one.  The question is: Why would you want one.

What about the Crossfire shotgun/rifle combo. 12ga. shotgun and .223 rifle. Uses AR/M16 mags and is pump action for both.[uzi]
