Ford did not get bailed out. Ford was actually working on a complete turn around before the SHTF back in July 2007. They even kicked Bill Ford Jr to the curb. So when the dust finally settled and the market started recouping, Ford was in better shape than Chevy and Chrysler...especially since they turned down the last round of bailouts. |

The big thing about Ford is that the Ford family still runs the company.
I wish I could find the article, but a while back I read something that said the Ford family would basically empty their entire life savings into the company before looking to the government for assistance like GM and Chrysler did. |
| I am a old Ford man, grew up with Fords, and could spout HP ratings of Ford engines when everyone else was small block Chevy. Bill Ford jr had to kicked out, he was a spoiled rich kid who was to Lib. for the family. Ford was smart and made changes before the SHTF, and did not need to be bailed out. Ford was able to tell Obama to GTFO. Just wish I could have found a Ford U-100 before I bought the Jeep (U-100 was the Ford name for a Jeep they made). |

And while Ford didn't get bailed out, let's keep it real here. They didn't "need" a bail out because Alan Mulally saw what was coming and mortgaged everything in the company that wasn't bolted down (and some things that were).
They've got money in the bank, but they've also got a ton of debt. The good news is Ford stock has been doing pretty decent recently. |
| ford dosent make better cars or trucks i know from experience as im the frame man at a very reputable body shop. Their full framed trucks areway underbuilt for their weight rating (non hss or hydroformed rails) their unibody cars arent much better the subframe mounting points are the weak link here. in saying this im not saying GM is any better just that their frames and structurs are they have their own set of problems such as certain electrical glitches and are bad for water leaks when it rains. i work on both ford and gm`s on a daily basis. personally im a dodge guy . |

I heard Michael Waltrip blabbing about how Ford didn't take the bailout, except Ford DID take $5.9B of taxpayer dollars in a DoE loan while GM took some TARP funds as part of the loan. Ford has a horrible track record for reliability and safety as well. Fords tend to burn up, blow up, or rollover. Remember the TFI ignition fires, Pinto fires, Crown Vic explosions, Firestone rollovers, and numerous other class action lawsuits and recalls related to electrical fires? If not, then you need to own Fords for over 30 years. My next car is not going to be a Ford!!!!!! |

Ford's Stock:
13.29down -0.44 -3.20%
GM Stock: Motors Liq Co Market closed MTLQQ $0.56 Change-0.01 -2.17% GM Stock was at (per some websites) a 52 week high of $18 share (I saw a bunch of references to $6/share range for a good bit of time)...I don't own stock, so I didn't follow it. Strange how when Enron went under (almost the same drop as GM)...it was a major crisis, a catastrophe for all their shareholders, but when GM went under....(mostly because the UAW and the Government got the company)...it was tough shit for their shareholders.
