How do I efficiently delete itunes duplicates? I believe an external hard drive loaded with music may have caused this mess. I personally do not feel like clicking on each and every double song and deleting them. I have better things to do with my weekend.

Current method:

Click on File- Show Duplicates- click on every other song(get carpel tunnel while doing it) and hit delete?

Better method Suggestions would be much appreciated-Thank you

are you holding control while you click on every other one? this will allow you to choose all of them, and then you only have to click delete once

other option is to remove all the songs from the library, and then just reload the ones on your local harddrive

Tag because I'd like to know as well.  All the methods I've heard of cost cash for some software...

Itunes shitty playlist is what pisses me off.  It will create 3-4 entries of multiple songs somehow.  The whole design of itunes is kinda shitty in my opinion.

Consolidate your music library

In Windows, when the iTunes Setup Assistant locates a music file or when you drag a music file into iTunes, a link is made to that files location on your hard disk. To keep all your music in a single location on your hard disk, open the Advanced menu and choose Consolidate Library. These files are copied and placed in your iTunes Music folder. With all your music in one place, you can more easily copy it to another Windows PC or Mac or back up your music library to an external hard disk or other media.
