One of my favorite bands. |
|
Quoted: I always think of Fat Bottomed Girls first. Every time I hear Bohemian Rhapsody I think of that stupidass Wayne's World. The popularity of Bohemian Rhapsody really makes me dislike the song. Queen has such a huge volume or works it annoys me most people never hear their really really kick ass songs. |

Quoted: Is this thread in response to the one asking who's opening gay? That said, I love me some Queen, and Freddy Mercury died too young. This thread is not in reponse to anything. I was just watching Guns N Roses bootlegs where they were doing ACDC covers. For whatever reasons one of the suggested links to the side of the video was a queen song. That got me interested in making an alcohol fueled Queen thread. |

I have a bunch of musicians friends. Singers, guitarists, drummers, produces, audio enginers, ect ect. The not so famous ones I've forced to watch Queen concerts and pointed out the contempt that Freddie Mercury displayed for the crowd. It wasn't a real contempt, it was more of a joking contempt which was done make the audience want the band to like them. Some of my friends were kinda blown away when I explained how they could make concert goers like them if they had a sort of larger than life attitude which poked fun at themselves and the audience. In many Queen concerts Freddie would say something right before he performed "A Crazy Thing Called Love" about how he was only performing it for the beautiful people. When he got the audience to boo he said he was talking about all of them. They'd all cheer after that. Only a few of my musician friends actually learned how to work the crowd like that though. Kinda a shame. If you can work a crowd you can go places. |

I know that movie was popular as hell in the rest of the world, but I just don't like it. The sound track was kinda cool though. ![]() |

I have always wondered about that.............Staying Power and Thriller had that similar musical rift............
Quoted:
Quoted:
Dragon Attack A song from an underrated album. Not many music fans know this, but Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones were listening to Queen's Hot Space album like crazy and basically copied it and turned it into Thriller. Many of their interviews from back in the day involve them talking about listening to Hot Space like crazy and being unable to get it out of their system.

Many of their interviews from back in the day involve them talking about listening to Hot Space like crazy and being unable to get it out of their system. I went into a really drunk strange philosophical rant about what can loosely be described as the vibe. I decided to delete it since I abandoned the music industry and feel it is hopeless. I am going to give it another go because this rum isn't going away any time soon. ![]() The handful of musicians I know who have recorded and sold millions of albums usually talk about vibe. If a recording isn't capturing a vibe they'll tell you it isn't worth the effort or the money to keep recording. Hot Space is an album that had the tiny seed of a vibe, but wasn't able to come to fruition. Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones took hold of whatever Queen had stumbled upon and worked it and obsessed over it until it had sex and emotion which could connect with and move people. Even then they had to take a break from recording and then go back and remix it because it was flat and sounded like shit after nearly a year of recording.

The closest I've come to seeing them is when I saw Queen with Paul Rodgers in... I guess 2005? Damn... that was a long time ago. ![]() |

Freddie is my second favorite homo, after Rob Halford. Flick of the Wrist is one of my favorites, but the entire Innuendo album is a fucking masterpiece. For such a talented guy to leave a swan song like that is a musical gift that can never be replicated. Fucking sad, inspirational, and uplifting lightning in a bottle.

Fucking sad, inspirational, and uplifting lightning in a bottle. Excellent: I was privileged to see Queen/Thin Lizzy in 1977, and they tore down the house. Saw Priest three years later, and they did same. |

Brian May is not only a great guitarist, he's also an accomplished astrophysicist. http://www.space.com/5692-queen-guitarist-publishes-astrophysics-thesis.html |

That's one hell of a "Farewell" video, released just weeks before Mercury's death. |
