I have a CVA with some pretty nice fiber optic sights. 50 cal, 295gr areotips. My wife put the smack down on pyrodex pellets because they stink so much. I can't disagree. However, I tried the Clean Shot pellets today. The POI moved up and right several inches, and what was a 3ish inch gun at 100 yards (off bags front and rear) is now a 6ish inch gun. I am not sure, I may need to go back to the pyrodex. Also, the pyrodex pellets came in handy tubes so i didn't need to screw around with boxes and pipe cleaners to load the gun. In an odd result, all of the sabots ended up on top of the snow about 20 yards out. I literally could stand in one spot and pick them all up (with some stretching). |
That should be enough to know, but I would definitely compare them again. Did you run a patch through between each shot? You know how tempermental muzzleloaders can be. This would be the first I hear of Clean Shot being less accurate than Pyrodex. I know a good number of muzzleloaders because we have a season for it for deer. How long a shot do you take in the woods there on average? Here I barely get 40-50 yards. A lot of thick woods. ETA: I know you guys must have a muzzleloader season in MI as it's practically a religion there, but just mentioning that we have one also. I think they kill >20X more deer in MI than in NH. |
