Well seeing I have finally decided to lose weight and get fit, I have main been stiticking with weights and a treadmill. Anyway when I do pushups it seems the blood rushes to my head and causes me to end my pushups prematurely. My sets are never completed because the blood rushing to my head causes me to end prematurely. I can easily do 30 pushups if it wasnt for that one issue. I get to 15 and my head feels like all the blood in my body rushed to my head. ![]() Yes I am high speed low drag. But I figured getting used to situps and pushups now would help greatly come next summer when I join up for a 4 year hitch My pushups are performed properly but I am unsure why this is happening ETA: I discovered I wasnt breathing during the pushups My blood pressure is fine according to my doctor. I am increasing my cardio every 2 weeks. I think I tend to hang my head during the pushups though . But that is easily fixed now that I discovered that I am doing it |

Make sure you are taking deep breaths at the correct time. See if you get the same problem while doing them at an increased incline (upper body at the incline, lower body below). If that doesn't provoke the problems, it sounds like fucked up circulation/blood pressure. |

Breath out as you push, breath in as you come back down. |
Depending on your physical condition, you may be over doing it. My BIL is overweight( 310lbs 5'9") He had joined a gym and started working out. He was into it but was having health iusses related to working out. I would say start off light, work on cardio more to increase your stamina. You may have a blood pressure issue if you are getting head rushes from pushups. Seek medical advise, or get a check up and consult a Dr. before increasing your regiment |

It may not a be as big of an issue as you think. Get a mirror, lay it on the wall infront of you near the ground and look at yourself! I bet you are looking down at the floor, and thust letting your head droop. Holding your head up will keep the blood from rushing into your head. You dont HAVE to use the mirror, but it helps with form! Try it! It works for me. |
Trying to do pushups when you have this much bulk and keeping a good breathing routine along with the physical exertition is tiring my arms out quickly. I'll try the other breathing routine on the next set. Which will be in 30 minutes. I was able to get 25 on the last set but I am winded ![]()

At first, I found attempting to follow systematic breathing while doing exercise annoying. In the beginning it might even cause you to do less pushups because you are annoyed by doing it. After a while, it will become second nature and greatly increase the results. |

Agree on all the above. You also may simply need more cardio. When you do pushups, you aren't just exercising your arms/chest; you are also exercising your heart. Your arm muscles may be stronger than your heart muscle. Do you also get dizzy when doing cardio? If so, you may have an artery blockage that is triggered by exertion. If not, then probably not. Wouldn't hurt to get a stress EKG (running on a treadmill while hooked up to an EKG machine), if your insurance covers it. |
ETA: I also wouldnt try the jogging test I dont want to hurt my knees so I am sticking with low impact cardio for now. Atleast till I drop some more weight, a knee injury now would set me back a month minimum. A

Crossfit rocks. I'm 38, and I can do things I never thought ANYbody could do, let alone me when I was 20, and I thought I was in shape when I was 20. Life is good. |

My pushups are performed properly but I am unsure why this is happening
If I could do those I would be getting my 4yr hitch by september
