Have any of you quit taking prozac cold turkey? I did 2weeks ago and it is not fun.
That is some nasty stuff. Post your withdrawal stories.

How about a little more detail for your using prozac, what conditions do you suffer from which require this drug?

Yes please give us a little more info. All the warning labels tell you not to quit cold turkey. And there have been reported cases of people flipping out trying that. (take the reports with a grain of salt please)

Use your noggin and call your DR. Clinical depression is not something you want to play
around with. Let the doc help determine if you no longer need the meds. Good luck.

I'm assuming the meds were prescribed by a psychiatrist and not your general practitioner, right?

I'm so sorry you've had such a rough time. I understand how you feel about being sick of taking drugs, but quitting like that can be dangerous. I hope you talk to your doctor about this, it might be that you need grief counselling rather than medication.

Those drugs suck.
People die... you, me, and everyone we love, everyone is going to die. Thats the only definite thing in life. But think of the bright side of that, no more illness, no more suffering, those who die are off to a better, much more peaceful place.

Those who stay behind and mourn, are selfish. The only sad thing about someone passing is that we lose the person. So we grieve OUR loss, not THEIR peace. Thats selfish. Be happy that they don't suffer anymore, that they have no worries. Someday we will see all our loved ones again.

If it's death thats depressing you, snap out of it. Rearrange your thinking, it's US that suffer on earth, and we're strong enough to deal with it.

It's human to be depressed or bummed out. It's human to cry, to laugh, to enjoy pizza and beer. You cannot have "all good"... theres good things, theres bad things, yin and yang, both are absolutely necessary.

Plant a garden, and nurture life.
Get a puppy, and nurture life.
Go for a good long hike in a state park, and enjoy life.

It's all in how you think. You can fill yourself up, and surround yourself with negative energy... or you can do the opposite. Positive thought really does result in positive interactions and things, because believe it or not, you project your negative/positive energy to everyone you come into contact with, and it's quite influential.

Don't focus on things that upset or anger you. Focus instead on "blowing it off". Take a deep breath and think to yourself a mantra... like "I'm as fluid as water, I can flow around any obstacle". Take another deep breath, and look for a positive way forward.

Try very hard to look for the positive.
If you are failing, stop thinking.
Go and tend the garden, or play with the dog, anything that you can focus on... instead of sitting there thinking about bad shit. Get rid of the bad shit, it's heavy and unneeded baggage thats just weighing down your life.

Try like hell to stay away from drugs, of any sort.

You can't just quit taking a SSRI.  You are feeling the effects of withdrawal from the medication.  Just as you worked up to an effective dose 20-60mg daily you should slowly reduce your dosage over two weeks.
I would NOT do this with talking to your Doc first.  Depression is a serious illness.  You may need to try different medications/dosages.  Also, it has been proven that medications work much better with some type of therapy.

Good luck and God speed!
