Protect our borders: Tell the Senate to Reject Immigrant Amnesty!
ACU Members, Friends, Supporters, and Activists:

Earlier this month, the U.S. House passed H.R. 1885: “The Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Act,” a bill designed to help us secure America’s borders after the horrific attacks of September 11th. Within the bill, however, is a provision that does more to undermine our border security than enhance it. The provision will permit illegal immigrants to stay in the United States-despite the fact that they entered illegally-rather than having them comply with the standard visa requirements of our country.

This bill, with the attached provision, if passed by the Senate, would grant hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants amnesty.

Not only would this provision effectively reward law-breakers. It is also contrary to the security precautions being taken by our government designed to ensure that a thorough background check is conducted on immigrants BEFORE they enter the country, not after.

As such, the provision legislating amnesty for illegal immigrants must be defeated, for the sake of homeland security AND national security.

ACU believes that the immigration ideal for the United States should be one in which LEGAL immigration is permitted and encouraged. Admittedly, the U.S. immigration system needs to be reformed, but the idea of amnesty-for-all is the foolhardy solution.

Tell your two Senators that amnesty for immigration law-breakers is unfair to legal immigrants, and as such , the 245(i) provision to H.R. 1885: “The Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Act” must be defeated.
