More high bandwidth bliss. I recently completed project RED DAWN, my project to take a standard SAR-2 and turn it into a clone (more or less) of a current issue AKS-74. The wood furniture has been sanded and refinished with polyurethane. The Faux Krinkov stock is from RPB and is very high quality indeed. Since the RPB stock is another US made part I can put on an original Russian red pistol grip instead of the black US made copy. The Kobra sight is the latest model and has no import markings but lots of cyrillic on it, thanks Tantal! The muzzlebrake is US made but correct for this caliber (5.45), and is welded on. Some careful sanding and Minwax one-step polyurethane later, it doesn't look like a $54 gun anymore! Its a gloss finish, thus the reflection from the sun in the second pic that looks like I didn't finish half the buttstock--its that shiny! Quoted: WTF? I don't see any snow in the pics! We have snow here in MN? How do you get so lucky as to not have to shoot in snow? Obviously you missed my thread about shooting my SAR-1 in the snow. I love drum mags! I've had enough snow this year to last me for awhile, I'm ready for summer now. |
| Didn't mention before, project Red Dawn and its older SAR-1 brother both have Red Star Arms/Power Custom fire control groups now. If you don't have a Red Star in your AK you are missing out! I'll gladly give demonstrations to anyone who wants to come to Columbia. [wave] |

Quoted: That 74 is sweet Batman. But I'd bet you still don't have that Kobra sighted in. [:)] HA! You are wrong Shamus, I finally remembered to bring that little tool thingy with me to the range, its dead on at 100 now. WAY more accurate than the 7.62 caliber and I got the trigger lock-tited in just the way I want it. She's good to go! WOLVERINES!!! |
