Hey all,
Just recently joined the Guard.
I am in pretty good shape but one problem I have had consistently is with the sit-up portion of the test.
As is, I can pass the test easily but I find that when I do the sit-ups, when I am at the height of the sit-up,
I am sitting right on my tail-bone. Needless to say this gets pretty painful. It has gotten to the point that I have a blister.
Have you all heard of this problem before?
Any tips to make it easier would be appreciated.
Thanks

Can't say I have ever had that problem. You doing them on a hard surface? Do them in the grass.

do them on a softer surface or use a puss pad (sleeping mat).
Also check your form- IIRC, the APFT manual states that you don't have to do a full sit up, just to a position where your back has broken the vertical plane (damn near a fullt sit up for most of us)
good luck!

Good advice.

Never got a blister,  but occasionally had a raw patch after marathon PT sessions.

After a while I would, right as I reached verticle, roll very slightly to one cheek or the other.

"THE VERTICAL POSITION MEANS THAT THE BASE OF YOUR NECK IS ABOVE THE BASE OF YOUR SPINE."

Caps are from the source I quoted.

I know the pain, literally. I have no ass, so situps on non padded surfaces kill me. I have to lean on the left to get it done.

I always leaned to the right butt/back because it was uncomfortable to go over my tail bone.  You might try leaning to one side or the other.

soft surface helps, as stated above.

also, don't work on the way down. just drop.

i used to pound a little dent in the ground with my elbow before the situp event.  helped with the tailbone rubbing and never had a grader bitch about it.

Ditto on the puss pad/soft surface. Only time I've had this happen was when I did situps on a hard surface. Took me a while a few days later to realize why I had a bloody scab on my tailbone...
