I'm trying to install unreal tournament 2004...   I have the 6 offical CD's and my computer keeps giving me erros...  it gets part way into the first disc and says:

Failed reading source file:  D:\System\XInterface.u (Data error (cyclic redundancy check).)

The source media may be bad.  If installing from a CD, try cleaning the CD to remove any dirt, check your CD drive, and try again.

it fails at differnet files everytime i attempt to install it....  i have tried TWO differnet brand new sets of cd's... and they both don't work so its something with my computer, cd drive, or with windows...

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Get access to another computer and try the CDs in there.  If they read in another computer, then your CD drive is bad.  The good news is that a new drive can be had for as little as $30, and isn't too challenging to install.

If the CDs don't read in the other computer, then the CDs themselves may be toast.  If they have a bunch of light scratches from improper handling, you can probably save them with one of those disc doctor things that you can buy anywhere.

EDIT:  it may also be worth your time to get some canned compressed air, and blow the dust and hairballs out of your CD drive.
