Personally, i think the guy is great...
what say the rest of arfcom? |

He looks like Master Splinter, but he's a great guitarist... He's extremely underrated IMO. He also excels at domestic violence and Watchtower distribution.
Oh and Little Red Corvette isn't about a car. In case you missed it, the reference to having used connies in a pocket is very non vehicular... |

very talented, he could go from kids lullaby's to psychedelic 3 hour music jam in a heartbeat. Not really my style of music, then again IMO he makes music for himself , if people buy it good. if not he continues on.
Another post said he was great in concert. Like to have that opportunity to see his show because..........> Lenny Kravits opened for Aerosmith in vegas 8 years ago. Didn't care for his music, till we saw him live. He put on a great show, gave everyone their money's worth and more. |

I was 17 and worked in a movie theater when Purple Rain was out. I saw it so many times I lost track. The man can do shit with a guitar that is unreal, (so can others, but each does it different) plus there is Apollonia jumping in the lake, nuff said.
And there was the times his music was on whilst I was gettin some. His voice did seem to make her clothes come off a bit faster. |

Wrote most of this a bunch a years ago when the subject of Prince came up. . . I wasn't really a big fan, didn't hate him either, but he played a Today Show concert in the late-'90s/early-'00s. A bunch of us from my office (located two blocks west of Rockerfeller Plaza) went over to check it out. That tour he essentially had "The Family Stone" (sans Sly Stone) as his backing band (including the great Larry Graham). He played couple of songs from whatever album he had recently released at the time (nothing particularly memorable) and then it was 9am. The Today Show ended at that time as he played a last song for the on air telecast. Then the fun began... Prince & band then went on to perform almost a whole hour of "Sly & The Family Stone" songs after the Today Show went off air. It was awesome!!! An incredible performance. One of the coolest things I have seen working (well, actually not working) in NYC. And, considering Sly Stone's notorious flakiness and substance abuse problems, probably a better show than the band could perform with Sly himself in attendance. I was then fortunate enough to catch him at MSG in 2004. Again a great show. I'd recommend one of his shows to anyone that likes live music performances and has eclectic tastes and or, just an appreciation for great musicianship & showmanship. Did I mention, he's also one heck of a songwriter? |
