Just found out.  He was like a surrogate father to me when my father didn't want to have a kid at 43 and he has always been there for me after my father died.  He started having chest pains on Sunday night after doing some heavy lifting for a friend and finally went to the doctor on Wednesday night.  Today they did an angiogram and a catheter to see what's going on, and have so far found three major blockages.  They still don't have a complete picture, so tomorrow they're doing an ultrasound on the heart.  They did find a tomato shaped mass on the bottom of his heart that they're still not sure what it is.

If you could be so kind, please say a prayer for my uncle, my grandmother, and my mom.  Mom and granny are both taking it pretty hard.  I guess I am too.

Thankfully today, this is not as horrible a thing as in times past, and there's a damn good chance your uncle will recover and be back to normal in no time.

He sounds like a good man, and My thoughts go out to you and him....

Hang in there bud...  chin up !

Thanks guys.  He's a tough old ox.  8 years ago he had 3 aneurisms at once and not only managed to survive, but also to still be himself.  The doctors said it was a miracle.  So, with the good Lord willing he'll make it through this too.

Just heard back from my mom in Houston.  Apparently they're planning to send him home and perform the surgery during the first week of November because that's the only time they can do it.  How does that work?  He's got three blocked arteries.

I'll be praying for your uncle.  My GF's dad had a heart attack walking toward his house from the driveway a few years ago, before I met her.  He just bent over and vomited on the pavement.  They took him to the hospital, and figured out it was a heart attack.  Meanwhile, he had another couple of them in the ER.  He had bypass surgery and has 12 stents, which is a lot.

When you are diagnosed with blocked arteries, they classify them by percentage.  He was almost 100% blocked.  Depending on the degree of blockage, the surgery could possibly wait.  In the meantime, they will put him on blood thinners, etc.  to reduce the risk of further blocking and a heart attack.

Thanks for the prayers guys.  My mom says he's looking as good as he normally does, and the doctors say he should be fine until the surgery.  I guess things have changed since my father died of heart disease.
