Can someone post the powerball numbers when they are drawn tonight. I have a dish and do not get any local stations  [:D]

I'll sleep better knowing for sure I did not win!

Lotteries are a tax on people who can't do math.

I was thinking the same thing.
If those numbers posted above are accurate, I guess I won't get to be mayor/police chief/local dictator/etc. after all.[:(]

Hmm, I can do math, and my calculations tell me I'm several thousand dollars up on the lottery. So are my parents. Just too bad the rest of you have to be on the other side of the odds ;)

Unless you and your parents both had large 6 number payouts I call bullshit!

The Lottery is a 160% tax....100% when you buy the ticket and 60% when you get a big win.

Reports are that there is only ONE winning ticket that was bought in West Virginia.

I had a friend, who is a long haul trucker, pick me up $20 worth. Too bad he was in Pennsylvania at the time. . .  [:(]

300 Million to one winner, Holy Shit!!!

Well, you'd be wrong. My biggest win was $3500, didn't reach the 60% tax by a long shot. Think it was 28% at the time, which was offset by stock market losses, so I did ok at the end of the year. I don't spend any more than $50 a year on the lottery, so it would take me about 50 years to begin losing money.

My parents spend probably $30-$50 a month just on the lottery. Their largest lottery win, I believe, was about $1,200. A couple of $800 wins, and many $300-$500 wins. More $80-$300 wins than I can count.

You can claim what you want, but the truth is I'm up, and so are my parents. Other family members haven't had that much success, but that's what happens when there are odds involved. Some people win and some people lose.

No, 1 person gets money, 299,000,000 people lose and only the Government wins.

You sound like you may be ahead...for now.  That is what will keep you playing and eventually  (soon) you will lose.

Let me ask you this.  Are you also ahead in other forms of gambling??

Your parents spend $600 per year??  On lotto??

I don't mean to give you a hard time.  But even those who think they are ahead often are surprised when they actually keep track of what they spend.  This "lie" is what keeps them playing.

Usually powerball number by itself pays $3. PB and another number is usually $7.

I don't gamble in other ways. Therefore, I have no other loses. I suppose the lottery might even the odds with me in another 20 years if I never, ever win anything again.

My parents are retired. They own their own home, get Social Security, have pensions, 401K's, etc. Sometimes they work part time but it's not for money, it's just for something to do.

They play the lottery not to make money but to have fun. A couple tickets when they fill up the car, a ticket or two at the grocery store.  Just talked to my mom and she won $40 last week, and was 1 number off from winning $280 last night.

They play slots about once a week, too. That's how they enjoy spending their time. They're not spending money they don't have or can't afford to lose. And believe me, they do pretty well there, too. Not just luck, but they've also figured out that when people play a machine for a long time without winning and abandon it, it's worth it to slip a few quarters in and give it a try. They've probably won hundreds and hundreds of dollars this way.
