Wait .... What's the premise? The song was ruined by the cover song or made famous?

I would argue that Darius Rucker did not ruin Wagon Wheel, he just did it differently than the original band., who seem just fine with his version.

Shinedown absolutely ruined Simple Man. Lawsuits should have rained down behind that.

Cheryl Crow's cover of "Sweet Child O' Mine" sucks, as does Madonna's cover of "American Pie".

|
Seether covered Veruca Salt's Seether (which Seether named itself after).
Absolutely terrible!!!!!! |
|
Agree with the Shinedown and Lenny Kravitz comments. Both covers suck!

Johnny Cash took NIN's 'Hurt' to the point that its video was the soundtrack of the autobiography of his life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmVAWKfJ4Go&noredirect=1 View Quote I actually really really like JC's version of the song...though I must admit I do prefer NiN's, though I like Johnny MUCH more than NiN. |

Trent Reznor agrees with you. He said when he heard Johnny Cash's version that the song became Johnny's. |

All along the watch tower-jimi Hendrix
Much better than Bob Dylan's original IMO |

I never knew there was a country cover of Jawbreaker. That's not bad. |

Really like the '80s version, but the original is actually really good! Great to dance to IMO! Here's one that is better than the original: Actually a cover of a cover, but still good! I meant this one: |

FFDP did a great cover and the video they did when they toured Iraq redefined that song for me. And yes, I rocked to the original when I was in college. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVo8g7T39A4&noredirect=1 View Quote I was gonna post this as one of the songs ruined by its cover. |

Bad Company by Five Finger Death Punch.
Terrible, absolutely Terrible. |

I never knew there was a country cover of Jawbreaker. That's not bad. Lucero is a pretty good band, I have no idea how they have been flying under the radar the past decade
