Hard drive type or not?
I'm thinking the hard drive type won't hold up to being dropped to well [BD]

Obviously, the hard-drive models are much more sensitive to shocks, and WILL wear out and die eventually.  The upside is that they have HUGE capacities, and can be used as a standard harddrive as well (good for transporting data from one PC to another).  They are also much heavier, mostly due to the battery necessary to run the drive.

The memory-card based players are much lighter and smaller, and are nearly shock-proof.  They are better for sports-related activities and such.  And, many models have removable media, which allows unlimited (but expensive) capacity.

Troy, any hi capacity ones that run on AA batts? I am looking for one but all seem to have rechargable batts and I most likely may not be near a power source where I'm going. I'd like to find one I can put several hours of mp.3s on without tons of cards or extraneous parts.

Thanks,

Sherm

I would say get an ipod. I want one of those so bad. But I am waiting till next month because apple is supposed to release newer ones soon.

The rechargable ones are nice but yes eventually that battery will go bad and or the hard drive will too.

The Rio series are among the best.

I'm leaning towards a memory type myself even though they don't play as long as one with a hard drive.
