| Those of you who know your survival rules know how to use this stuff to purify water. I wonder if anyone has thought of sending or taking a bunch of that shit down to Haiti. |

Pool Shock comnonly comes in a one pound bag and about one teaspoon in a gallon of water makes a gallon of bleach which can purify about 100 gallons of water.
With about 50 bucks in materials I could purify water for thousands of people. ETA: Pool Shock is stacked on WalMart shelves for 3 bucks a bag. |

it would just make the turds in that 100 gallons of water disinfected, not the same as purified water See, thats the problem with the masses. They are fuckin stupid. Do ya think ya could figure out a solids filter? Like a five gallon bucket with some sand and mabey crushed charcoal from a bonfire? ![]()

both the Comfort and the Carl vincon can already purify extreme amounts of sea water , they won't be needing clorine , just containers So you think it's more efficient to transport a thousand gallons of water from a carrier 20 miles away or purify water on location? |

Boil any material for 2 minutes and you have a clean solids filter.
Remove boiled material and insert into 5 gallon bucket or two liter soda bottle etc... Filter solids out, then purify with chlorine solution. Wait 30 minutes. Filter purified water throug activated charcoal for cleaner taste. |

But what is more efficient? Transporting 1000 gallons of water that weighs more than 7,000 lbs. or 50 lbs. of gear to purify 10 times the amount of water on location? |

The stuff that Walmart stocks is not a high enough concentration of Calcium hypochlorite.
You need to get it from a pool supply company. Min 65% Calcium hypochlorite, no additives. Here's a good reference: Water Purification with pool shock |
