The hospital paid for a Pocket PC for me (continuing Ed money).

Anyone here use one on a regular basis?

What programs do you recommend?

My kids got more use out of it than I did--playing games on our trip last weekend.

Right now, it has a just has a Pocket PDR version in it.

There's lots of ebooks out there, some (legitimately) free.  Grab the Microsoft Reader software, and there's a couple of other reader programs that are popular that I can't think of right now.

You can install Adobe Acrobat for Pocket PC and take PDF files with you.

Had those on my list already--had issues with the Adobe website when I first got the PocketPC (wouldn't download).   I think I already have MS reader.

Figure on keeping the programs in the PC, the books (and etc) on the storage card.

Load it up with all the PDF's over at www.frugalsquirrels.com   Some of the Survival Fiction like "Lights Out" is light entertaining reading.  They have a Nuclear Survival FAQ in PDF form, etc...

One of the best places to ask something like this is www.aximsite.com.

Programs I use all the time:
VitoNavigator for geocaching
Pocketstars for Astronomy
MAMECE for classic arcade games
Netfront 3.2 to browse the net
I use the built in Contacts to dial my bluetooth phone.

There's plenty of programs out there to do the applications you want.  Just search www.pocketgear.com
