It is with a heavy heart and a tear in my eye that i say this. Today after taking my 6 y/o Dalmatian to the vet he has an incurable case of kidney stones. His bladder and urethra are full of them. Kidney failure is inevitable. Right now he is uncomfortable but not suffering. I made the decesion to bring him home for the weekend to pamper him then Monday to have him put down. The vet felt that this is the best thing i can do for him so it must be bad. Murphy was a Mascot of the McKees Rocks, Pa. Vol. Fire Dept and represented the City Of Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire. He won First Place in the Dalmatian Contest at the Pittsburgh Firefighters Local #1 19th annual Fire muster in 2003. He was Best man at my wedding to my Wife Amy. Our wedding was featured on Wild Weddings on the The Learning Channel in 2003 and again on an edition of The Insider on CBS in 2004. He has been a faithful and Loyal member of this family since we drove 3/4 the way across Pennsylvania to pick him up. So tonight and for the next 3 nights i will raise a glass and drink to my Boy... I love you Pal..............

Update: Well after a long weekend and trying to make Murph as comfortable as possible, today we had him put to sleep. This was by far the HARDEST decision i have ever made. Mainly for selfish reasons i wanted him to hang on, but i knew he was in pain with no relief possible. My wife and i and our oldest daughter were there to the end when the doctor gave Murph the shot. It was a peaceful passing, he just closed his eyes and went to sleep. I am sorry i couldn't do more for him and i am sorry i couldnt take away his pain sooner. He was my best friend and my Baby Boy.
