Wouldn't that create a suction problem,  with the wind on the outside trying to pull the roof off and letting a shitload of it get inside and create more pressure within the house?

The whole inside/outside pressure thing is nonsense. Houses leak like sieves and aren't airtight.

By leaving the door  or window open, the wind rushes in, goes up the stairs, and given nowhere else to go pops the roof off.

Board up the windows and doors.

Just like my cousin's first kid. My aunt handed Timmy to me "Isn't he so handsome?" He was a couple weeks old. All I could say was "Yeah." What I thought was "What a hairy little monkey he is."

I thought air pressure is a problem with tornados, not hurricanes. in any event, he's going to fill his house with rain water, ruining the sheetrock

In a tornado, it's "overpressure" which causes the windows and walls to blow outward.  Might actually help the structure.

why not just take the door off it's hinges. that looks like alot of work and i doubt that rigging will hold up to 100 mph wind.

Curious, though.  George W. Bush and Laura have been wearing one for months and then Kerry starts wearing one.  Hmmmmm.......

I understand that, but this is a hurricane!   I want to see the "after" pic of this guys house!   That door is probably in the next county over, along with the rest of his belongings.  Not to mention the roof is more likely to tear off now that the wind can get underneath it.    Also the water that is now going to enter his house is going to destroy the carpet, drywall and any furniture that is actually left in the house.   I am willing to bet this guy is NOT from Florida.

Kind of a troubling picture because I realized it is only a matter of time before some Muslim booby-traps their baby and hands them to a politician.
