I say this buck at the start of bow season and have been hunting for a while.  I sat in the stand for two days all day.  I set up over a few scrapes and he came in the first day, but he was about 45 yards.  The next evening he came in and checked the scrapes about 15" and I got an arrow off.  He weighed in almost 190# and will score around 150+. The next day I was hunting for a doe and I saw what possible could be a state record buck.  The current state record was taken off the ranch last year and this one is a little bigger.  I should of passed on this deer, but he looked a lot bigger blowing steam out his nose.

Here is a quial I shot from the stand.

This one I shot this year, but we couldn't find him.  The quail dogs found him last weekend.

I didn't have a digital when most of the big deer were taken

Very nice! Good job, I would have a hard time getting a bow shot off on something like that, I mean the adreanalin must have been a pumping!

Time to get your wife or girl friend a tag, & take them after the record book deer you saw. I always think it's cool when a kid, or a 1st time hunter bags a monster. anyway great job,  it's your good!

Ya I was a little shaky.  The fog rolled in off the river and steam was pouring out of his nose.
Usually I see them come in.  This guy just appeared out of the thickest cover.  I didn't even have time to count his points.  Not a bad deer.  One of the biggest I have taken with a bow.  I'm using a wooden recurve bow the rest of season.

Yes it is a bobcat.  They are a pest to me.  It's amazing how many turkey and quail one cat can kill.  I shoot all the state of OK will let me.  I have  a few stuffed.

Nice, job! You showed your hunting ethics by passing on that 45yd shot, and were rewarded later on. Love the Quail pic!

Right at 20"

I found a new way to judge the spread in the field.  If the rack is wider than the ears is 17"+

I have no experience with archery so correct me if I'm wrong ok.

That quail shot looks almost like a friggin impossible lucky shot!!!  I mean,  NICE shot.

Can you make shots like that consistently?

What range did you take the bird at?

Nice shooting!

It takes skill to pop the big boys- you done good. I'm guessing he was maybe 4 years old?

Mind telling me what bow setup you were using?

I'm using an old PSE 65# with a 5" overdraw and 25" arrows so it is pretty fast.  I only have one sight for 5-35 yards.  I use 100grain thunder heads tips.  I hit a huge deer with a mechinical broadhead opening day and lost him. Never use them again. His fron leg was back and I think I nicked the sholder blade and it threw the path of he shot off.  I found him 2 weeks later.  My deer aging bood says he is over 5 years old.  The funny thing is he isn't the dominent buck in that area.  The next day I saw his daddy.  He looked like a typical 12 point and a possible record deer.  I hung 5 stands over where I saw him to have the wind perfect. I will be hunting this guy with a recurve wooden bow.  Everything will have to be perfect to get this big boy.  After rut he will go nocternal and I will lose him til next season.
