I need a well performing free photo hosting site. I've been using photobucket for years and I'm getting tired of the problems I've been encountering. Slow performance both downloading and uploading, times when it just locks up, and I'm convinced I've gotten spyware on my machine from that site. The last 2 times my computer was hijacked I was on photobucket's site. Just yesterday I got infected with system tool 2011

if photobucket were infecting computers, it would be all over the news, as it's one of the most popular ( and best) photo sharing sites out there.
Photobucket works fine for me, if you're unhappy with the ads, get firefox (which you should do anyway - you're using internet exploder, right?) and use adblock to get rid of them. Stop surfing the free porn sites and other sites of questionable content (warez, foreign sites, dummy sites (common typos of legit sites are a common one) etc) and your potential for infection drops to near zero. Pay attention to what you're doing, what you're typing, and what you're clicking on. If you use limewire or another file sharing program, a lot of the files found there are infected as well. Unsafe browsing practices are the cause of your infection, not your choice of photo hosts. Internet Explorer is not a very safe browser, it has holes big enough to drive a truck through and many exploits that work to install malware like what you got do not work on firefox (or opera, or chrome, etc) |
| I appreciate your reply, however I am using firefox and trust me I haven't been surfing on any porn sites. I don't download any files with the exception of finding images using google search. I upload my own pictures as well as those I find interesting on the internet. I then post links from photobucket to forums I belong to. I'm the only one who uses this computer, so I am confident that nobody else has done anything stupid on it. |
