They went on a testing/hiring binge late last year, made tons of final, unconditional offers, and had to rescind them. There were guys who had quit their jobs and moved to PHX with offers in hand and were instructed to bring their letters in and kiss them goodbye. Check out other depts in the valley. It's hard to stay on top of who is testing and when, but there are a million suburbs: Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Peoria, etc. ETA: No hiring in the south land either, but I'll show you a good time.

Yeah, many departments are laying off and/or taking pay cuts in AZ. You're better off going federal if you want job security. |

Tucson PD is hiring right now. Might want to hurry though, I think the application window closes in a week or two. Be careful there too. They only managed to budget for their current January academy and are RIFing the 20 recruits after they graduate until they can afford to pay them a salary.

If you like the southwest, the Border Patrol is on a hiring frenzy right now. After Artesia you'll probably go to either Arizona or Texas. The southwest is a hotspot right now for many federal agencies. If you want to move to TX/AZ/NM or CA, you could have your choice of many federal LE agencies. |
