I'm not sure if I have one myself. High places make me uncomfortable but I have worked at 100+ feet for long periods. Snakes worry me some but I will handle them if they are dead. Spiders are something that I want to get off of me as soon as I see them but nothing that I know of so far makes me a "piss my pants" kind of scared. I haven't been in a firefight but I have been shot at by mistake. That just made me mad.

Maybe I'm wierd?

Spiders, leeches and being trapped in a tiny space, right off the top of my head.

What's funny is that my 14-year-old sister ACTUALLY HOLDS WOLF SPIDERS IN HER HAND! I'm talking the huge ones, not the little half-dollar sized ones.

EDITED: Here's a pic.

Hornets, and to a lesser degree, wasps. Hornets are just fuckin EVIL, and dangerous too.

YIKES! I just thought of one. Having my hands tied or cuffed behind my back makes me all panicky. I feel like I would smother if that happened to me.

I was attacked by hornets once, and I got stung four times, but the weird thing is that after about 1 minute there was no pain, and there was never any swelling at all. I must not be allergic to them. But still, the sight of them diving toward me like fighter jets on afterburners really did freak me out. I had never been attacked by hornets before.

But they got theirs, and I'm happy.

Back when I was restoring and racing old Mopars, I was in a junkyard, gathering parts for a car I was working on. A `68 Roadrunner in the yard had some dashboard parts I needed, so I climbed in, head first, upside down uner the dash. When my eyes adjusted to the darker area, I looked up and realized my nose was about 4 inches from the asshole of a BIG paper hornets nest. You know, the big grey cone shaped types, and this one was about the size of a basketball and I could hear the little bastards getting excited. I banged my head on every single sharp metal edge getting out of there, and ran screaming like a little girl! I got stung 7 times, but it would have been a lot worse if I hadn't bailed so quick.

Just thinking about it gives me the willies. <shudder>

Phobiaphobia. I am scared of getting scared of something.
Link Posted: 8/20/2004 2:53:29 PM EST
I have a phobia of heights, but I can control it...except for one thing. I get terrified driving on elevated highways or bridges. I can walk on ledges, climb ladders, whatever, because although I have the fear I don't give into it. But when I am driving on a long bridge or long, elevated highway, it starts building up and although I am willing to do it, my hands start to shake and my vision blurs, which makes it dangerous.

I got stopped in traffic over an expansion joint on the Mississippi River bridge in Baton Rouge once. The lane next to me was moving and everytime an 18 wheeler passed my car it was like a kids bucking horse. The pucker cord was in fullbunch mode!

Ummm.....bees.

More specifically, any of those damn striped bugs that fly around and sting you. Bees, wasps, hornets. Especially when they, all of a sudden, buzz right in your face.

Except bumblebees. You can hear them mothers coming in like a B29. You have plenty of time to get out of their way.

Took me many years to stay calm when it was a honey bee. They don't bother me anymore now.

Weird part is honey bees have always fascinated me, too. A real phobia.

A good way to get punched in the face by me is to push and go boo. Thats about the only thing I'll actually hit somebody for.

I have a few things that bug me, but nothing really sends me into "screaming bitch" mode.

I get spiders off me asap, but they don't really give me the heebie jeebies.

I have zero fear of snakes.

I haven't been in a gun or firefight yet, and truthfully hope I never am. But I AM prepared, I think.

Oh-wait-I just thought of something I have a near uncontrollable hate for: Gullible, stupid liberal demonrats.
