I have a rolling toolbox beside my lathe and have some of the rubber shelf line stuff in the top drawer on it. The go in the drawer and when I'm working the drawer stays open so i can swap then as needed.

Shelf next to the lathe....buuuut.

I've been thinking that some AL angle would be perfect to hang them from.  Infinite length, no corrosion issues, cheap....What's not to like?

Headstock tray is for the chick key, chip brush, lube and calipers.

I have a shelf from the wall to my chip shield. Tool holders, indicators, Allen wrenches, copper shim stock etc reside there.
Likewise headstock tray holds calipers, pitch gage, thread mic, chip brush, Sharpie and a couple die maker stones.

In the little coolant catch pockets at the end of the table. Mills are great; they're like a fancy workbench for all your stuff you never bother putting away.

Or, you know, in the tool cabinet drawer marked 'edge finders, indicators and delicate stuff'

Holy fuck.  That made my heart race.  Good mill tables are NOT a bench.

Shitty mills tables, well, uh, that sucks.

Deep breaths: it's going to be ok.

I may be a shitty machinist, but at least I never forget to leave the chuck key in the three jaw so the next guy can find it easy.

The Phase II stuff, I store in the garbage can. My Aloris tool holders are laying on little silk pillows.

Reason I ask, Is I'm drawing a holder up that can be 3d printed, then attached any where.. I have a few test runs done, and still tweeting the geometry. Once done ill post a link up on thinginverse for stl download.

I did something similar.
Unistrut with aluminum angle pieces for the holders. Unistrut allows you to vary the spacing as needed and it's cheap.

Trick question. Aloris silk comes from China.

Seriously though, I store mine on the chip pan. Someday I'll make a stand for them.

I picked up a couple of these on the bay and mounted them on the back splash, they work great.

I just hook mine on the front of the chip pan.

I saw someone using a piece of 1/4 rod to hang them from somewhere. It was just mounted on the front of a shelf they had near the lathe. Seems like a really simple way to do it.
