So I sold some network adapters on ebay and the guy just sent a payment via Paypal. However, paypal is assessing a $6.62 fee, which I've never had happen before. I looked at their Fee list and it says "instant" transfers are free, so why the charge? The guys shipping address is in Minnesota, but ebay say's he's in Thailand..... ![]()
All his feedback is positive. Kinda confused. What gives? ETA: Here's his email to let me know he paid. Habla Engrish.
It say's right in the auction they're untested. So, no, I will not "chack item working"..... ![]()

I wouldn't care if they showed me how they came to that number. I don't like "mystery charges". ![]() ETA: ie. is it a fee for the service, or because this dickhole is paying from an overseas bank account.... |

It's the fee they charge you when you accept a payment from a non-confirmed address that doesn't have an old-school legacy account. Yes, I'm dead serious. You should have also gotten an email asking you if you wanted to accept the payment. That email explains the fee. |
I checked my email and find (oddly) that paypal has not sent me a notification of the payment yet.... Anyway, what's the risk of accepting it? His feedback on Ebay is 100%, so it seems safe..... |

He used a credit card to pay. Paypal allows non-business members to accept credit card payment something like 3 times a year, without having to upgrade to a premium, or business, membership. However, they still charge the payee a fee to accept the payment, the same as the premium members do on ALL transactions. They still do not charge the fee on Paypal fund transfers. You need to specify no cc payments, or add a fee for those. |

its a trap. if his billing address is in the US and shipping is in Thailand.... call paypal, tell them you think this is a fraudulent transaction. and for the love of god dont use paypal! they fuck you EVERY time on resolutions of fraud cases. it took 3 months to get my money back when a asshole sold me and 8 others fake ipods. he had a 97% rating for over 3 years and a few hundred auctions. paypal is a scam. they charge a % on money in their system, which is 100% secure for them. in my eyes, they offer the idea of security and safety, when they provide neither. google "paypal sucks" and see how many people paypal has burned. |
Yeah, I know they suck, but .... Convenient for now...Anyway, shipping is to USA, but the billing, i have no idea... |
Might want to check any of his old auctions and see what he lists his country/address to be. You might be dealing with a hijacked account. <eta> I just noticed that paypal lists him as "verified." That rules out what I was thinking of as the reason for the fee |

Convenient for now...
