I just happened to think to check them, and thank the Lord I found this guy before it let loose!

Interesting.  How old are the hoses?  There is a suggested replacement interval.

I replace mine every four years after having one burst about 20 years ago on a five year old washer.
Also, throw away the shit hose that comes with the washing machine.

A relative had their basement office flooded because of this type of hose on a dishwasher upstairs. Stainless steel hoses are recommended for this reason.

Those hoses are about 4 years old.  I'm not sure what the replacement interval should be, I'm thinking of getting it on my yearly to do list.
