I grabbed a gaming laptop (just trust me, more useful for my situation) last month.

Asus ROG G752 VR
I7-7820HK 2.9-3.9ghz
GTX 1070
500GB SSD, 1TB HDD
16GB RAM

Now, according to ASUS, their RAM is OC'd to 2800MHZ, and the processor will jump to the mid- and upper-3ghz speeds.

Is there something I need to do to make that happen, or is it automatic?  Everything I see on the computer and systemrequirementslab.com just says 2.9ghz for the processor speed.  I can run ARMA 3 on Ultra, The Division almost maxed out, PBUG maxed out, War Thunder maxed out.  Is that on the lower speed, or is it overclocking by itself?

Rainbow Six Siege is on sale through Ubi at the moment, but System Requirements Lab says my PC will struggle.  That's why I really care at the moment ha.

It doesn't get nearly as warm as my old Sager does.  I can run ARMA 3 DUWS with 15 different enemy bases, both sides power maxed.  Shitload of soldiers and vehicles, and the fans don't even seem to take off.  I haven't run into any external heat issues yet.

Most CPU and gpu will overclock automatically.  You can install some software that will overlay CPU and gpu data so you can see.

you can always overclock manually so it's always at th higher CPU speed.

I often wonder how many laptops were burnt up during the first bitcoin craze when they were mining with CPU and probably made $0.25. HAHA.

Truth be told I would not bother overclocking the CPU it just isn't worth it.  You are most likely always limited by the GPU.  You can download an overclocking utility and go to town.  There are several guides out there.
