Any good suggestions for an online Document storage service?  Personal use, military records, taxes, etc.

I've used box.net before, and found it pretty useful.  Before that I used ibackup for several years.  Nowadays I just use my web hosting account which comes with a lavish quantity of disk space.

Whichever service you go with, if you're storing sensitive information you may want to consider encrypting it first.  All of the services will generally swear to keep your stuff secure, but the terms of service inevitably disclaim any liability for any failure of the system or disclosure to unauthorized parties.

I would discourage using online document storage services

Best rule of thumb, the cheaper, or free, they are, the more likely the information could be compromised

I would recommend evaluating if the information is something you HAVE to have available over the internet

Evaluate worst case SHTF scenario, would you be majorly SOL if someone else got a hold of that information?

If you must have the information stored online, then previous poster's recommendation is a must; Encrypt it first before uploading. That will SLOW down a hacker, but will not totally STOP a hacker.
