So I was driving down I-40 (real classy to put tolls on interstates and still have shitty roads at that) and I kept seeing signs that said "Do not drive through the smoke."
So, does it smoke often there? Where does it come from (Indians?) I'm guessing terrain and pressure keeps the smoke on the ground? And what the hell do you do, just pull over or completely stop on the interstate? |

We have some hellacious wild fires around here. If you see smoke across the interstate, chances are there's a big fire and you won't be able to see shit outside your car. In addition, there's probably some other dumbass who didn't heed the warning and he has caused a multi-car pile up right in front of you.

How long does it last? Doesn't the smoke bother your lungs after sitting in it? With the middle barrier turning around isn't really an option. |

(real classy to put tolls on interstates and still have shitty roads at that) Drive the PA Turnpike some time. Highest toll in the nation in exchange for the honor and privilige of driving on the worst road in the nation. Maybe we should open one up. Sounds like a good scam. Anyone else slightly afraid of toll booths after watching The Godfather? |

They burn the grasslands off in the spring. Really? Why? The warm season grasses that dominate the prairie region respond very well to fire. They do it as a way to stimulate the plants and to kill the nondesirable plants. The prairies developed with fire as a fact of nature. The tend to overdo it a little nowadays. It should really only be done about once every three years. |

I-40 is not a toll road. Perhaps you were on I-44? I'm curious as well.
Used to live near the 'H' on the turnpike near lawton. While there, I did see a bunch of grassfire-caused smokes that did obscure everything. The Blackkettle Nat'l grasslands are just above I-40 in W OK. |
