Well as some of yall may remember i got a job offer with chesapeake doing water transfer, then the day i was supposed to start my dad died. So i had to make a hard decision and pass on that job and help my mother out.
Well things are finally slowing down and I must persue a career. I had a 30min phone interview with Baker Hughes today for a fluid tech position. It went REALLY well. Can yall fill me in on what all is involved with being a fluid tech? |

I wouldnt recommend working for BH. I left them recently for greener pastures.
They had a lot of mismanagment. Didnt know where their "hands" were. (Their employees) Poor communiction between the field and the office. You call the "on call" coordinator and no answer and then you call all the other coordinators and no answer. Forced to make coordinator level decisions in the field with no resources for other options. This all could have been taken as isolated, but I have buddies who have worked for BH before and they said same thing happened with them. One was in frac and the other a bit salesmen. I was a directional driller FWIW. If you do go with them, good luck and keep your nose clean and CYA. Also I have no idea of a fluid tech but thinking it is along the fracing crew, possibly. |

It all depends on what division you will be with. If it the pumping side, then it will mainly be working with gels and other chemicals(acids, solvents etc). If it the completion fluid side, then you will be working with the completion fluids(brines). Things like Potassium Chloride, Cal. Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Bromide, Zinc Bromide. I used to working as a Filtration tech and Combo Fluid hand working with the completion fluids. Not bad work and usually pays pretty good. Right now I work for Baker in the Sand Control division running tools.

And they are a compeditor, so I would love to say all sorts of things about them, but apart from the shame of working at Baker, I can't. Put your money away. This is a cyclical business. |
