The 112th US Open kicks off in a couple of hours. Who do you like?
Notables: Andy Zhang - 14 year old qualifier Casey Martin I'm going with the the streak of 15 first time winners. |

Bubba. My oldest daughter thinks his pink driver is cool. I figure that's just as good a reason as any to pull for someone whom I will never meet.
ETA: A more interesting question would be to ask what the over/under on Tiger getting caught on national TV cursing or slamming a club into the turf will be. |

Quoted: Quoted: ![]() Thanks for your contribution. What more could I expect from a life member. You are right, my apologies. I've had similar done to me over the years about no telling how many subjects that I found interesting and exciting (and others did not), but that doesn't mean that I should have done it to you/your thread. Mea culpa. |

Quoted: Appology accepted. I know that golf is not as popular as T&A, but there is a few golfers on this site. If it makes you feel any better, I feel the same way about NASCAR... which pretty much makes me a man without a country here in rural Alabama, less than two hours from Talladega. ![]() (We also have one of the nicest golf trails in the world here... or so I'm told. I'm out –– no more tangents/distractions. |
| I volunteered at the US Open last year, at Congressional. Spent M-Th on the driving range at 0600. It was a great experience, and I will be picking up my volunteer package for the 2012 AT&T National today. I'm considering volunteering at the 2013 US Open and the 2013 APL. |

Quoted: In Bubba's press interview he basically said the course is as hard as any he ever played and a couple of holes are just not fair. The guy who plays out of the rough the best and putts ok will probably win. I can't wrap my head around a 572yd par 4. I hate that saying. Everyone must play them, and the fact that they have ample time to prepare makes such a statement foolish. I've played some courses blind, where I thought that the layout was unfair, but still. I absolutely love the US or British Open when they make the course hard as fuck. I remember Shinnecock a few years ago watching people 4 and 5 putt.

Quoted: VT, any predictions? I haven't watched that much golf like I normally would, but I've picked the game back up this year again and it's like coming home to a long lost love. Anywho, I'm thinking someone experienced is going to win it, and they will be American.

Thanks for your contribution to keeping this place civil. ![]() My predictions: Luke Donald or Matt Kuchar will win, Phil will be in the middle of the pack, and Tiger will be just outside the top 5. |

BTW I have no love for Tiger, and I'm not a fan of Bubba Watson or Flower. Obnoxious, fruity colors, pink shafted drivers, and crying should not be a part of golf. While golf doesn't involve vicious hits like football, I still regard it as a gentleman/man's man game.

I went to the us open several years ago when it was at souther hills in tulsa.
Justin leonard hit me with a ball, and jack Nicklaus told me he couldnt sign an autograph until after the round even though he wasnt playing. Also saw phils while. Good gawd she was so hot shed make you hurt youself. |

Quoted: I hope to make a trip to Alabama some day and play the RTJ trail courses. If you ever do, please let me know... especially if you play one of the Prattville courses (I live very close). After my earlier rudeness, the least I could do is treat you to a good ol' Southern meal. |

Remember, this was the first round, on a hard course. Leader has a bad hole or two and that bad round becomes erased. There's been huge swings in the leader board in the US Open before. With Rory finishing at -16 last year, the winner is going to be lucky to finsh better than even par this year. The USGA doen't like double digits under par winning its flagship event. |

I really want Tiger to win. If nothing else because it will shut up the commentary from all of those that want to make sports figures role models. They are people, just like me and you, but they have a talent we don't have. Why are they not allowed to fuck up? Westwood is the one I will be pulling for though......... |
