I am no government controlled health care access expert, but whenever I hear anything about number of people signed up on the radio, it's like no one knows or isn't saying how many people have actually signed up. So I start Googling it and of course not much useful info pops up. No surprise that the most open administration is US history doesn't know, but wow the numbers seem really low even in the leftist press.

Is there a running tally? An arfcom poll? Dude with wet finger in the air?

Looking at the RINO Joe show this morning to see how much they were gloating I noted they were being up-front about the only 36K that have managed to get signed-up.

I think they are so secure in the notiion that the media will cover for them they figured it would be best to say it has "issues" up front. It's not like anyone in the Halfrican admin will lose their jobs over the cluster-fuck and they know it.

Add to that if they can keep attention focused on warts in the system they keep the spotlight off the premium increase/cancellation letters other folks are getting.

They HAVE to have a minimum of 7 million on the thing and most of those need to be healthy young people. At a minimum or else it will fail.

Good luck with that. Last I heard there were less than 50K signed up after two weeks.

I think he maybe he's assuming there is fiscal responsibility involved.

During all of this I got to thinking, is there a way we can clog healthcare.gov up? I mean, the server is pretty bad, what if a bunch of people just go to the sign up page and just sit there, will it bog down the website?

Seven million is being cited as the minimum needed signed up by Jan. 1. That shit ain't free, no matter what anyone says. Insurance companies have been threatened / coerced, whatever, to participate in this scam. That number is what is needed at the least to just pay for itself. And if it's ALL sick people, it will still fail. The whole thing hinges on young healthy people signing up and paying stupid (for them) premiums to subsidize the already sick and elderly (no denial for pre-existing conditions, yo!).

I've been fortunate to have full time jobs with companies that provide us with insurance plans my entire working life. But if I was 21 and no insurance there's no fucking way I'd sign up for this scam.

I really wouldn't want to try a Denial-of-Service attack, which is what you're talking about, on a website run by the federal government.

I've seen that the numbers of people who have actually signed up for an insurance plan are between 36,000 and 100,000 and that those signups come from states which run their own sign up programs.

The U.S. government runs the program in what? 36 states? Supposedly those states have zero to minimal actual successful sign ups for policies.

If the only people that actually get signed up are ones that get maximum subsidies there won't be the money coming in from high dollar enrollees to support the system. If young people with higher dollar policies just decide to pay the penalty in the first years when the penalty is less than actual Obamacare insurance, the system fails.

Link Posted: 10/17/2013 4:07:17 AM EDT
Glenn Beck was talking about this a few days ago and he mentioned the minimum 7 million # for it to stay afloat. I think he said that was a # that the administration put out.

He also stated that at the time only 51k people had signed up.

He was referencing an article from Europe.

The congress and senate could not hide the fact that their aides, staffers, etc. were either exempted or $4000 was added to their paycheck to pay for their Kenyancare premiums or penalties. That ought to tell the sheeple something.

One of the main problems with this fiasco is that there are still millions of people thinking Kenyancare is going to be free, or paid for by others tax money like Medicare and Medicaid.

My prediction is that the perfect storm of Kenyancare and I/A Amnesty will collapse our entire economic and monetary system within two years.

That's the endgame though. No one signs up, system collapses/insurance companies fold, .gov steps in to save the day with single payer, middle class gets attacked further through taxes to pay for it all.....

You really think this law will disappear when 7 million people dint sign up?

I would guess only only the true disciples sign up and actually pay for it. The ones that need it outside of the preexisitng conditioners can't put out that much effort. Otherwise they'd already have made it to the station in life where they could already afford healthcare in the previously private market or have gainful employment that's providing it already.

Congress and Obama either getting it paid for or exempted followed by unions sickens me. I'm talking even union members being exempt from the taxes in their Cadillac plans would've caused people a 100 years ago to be burning and shooting things. It's a sad state our government is in and the way they're dragging the country down with them. Even sadder is the American people allowing it to happen.

(10) Your annual breast exam is done at Hooters.

(9) Directions to your doctor's office include "Take a left when you enter

(8) The tongue depressors taste faintly of Fudgesicles.

(7) The only proctologist in the plan is "Gus" from Roto-Rooter.

(6) The only item listed under Preventative Care Coverage is "an apple a
day."

(5) Your primary care physician is wearing the pants you gave to Goodwill
last month.

(4) "The patient is responsible for 200% of out-of-network charges," is not
a typographical error.

(3) The only expense covered 100% is..."Embalming."

(2) Your Prozac comes in different colors with little M's on them.

(1) You ask for Viagra and they give you a Popsicle stick and duct tape.

The administration won't release the numbers, and why would they?

The only ones jumping to get insurance are those who would have previously not had a chance of qualifying.

Plain and simple the powers that be should have been vocal in their criticism of Obamacare all the while letting it play out. This is one more giant government program which is on self destruct mode but it won't be immediate.

A year or two from now the real debate will be had once people see what a colossal fuck up this is.

If there were any significant number of people that signed up, they would be touting it as a major success.

I can't speak to the numbers they need but the concept is absolutely correct. I think the next step will be mandatory or automatic sign-up through the IRS ie. filing tax returns will automatically sign you up. The original law will have to be tweaked a lot in the coming years.

Obamacare will fail if they don't have enough people to sign up and the biggest reason is most Americans are cheapskates. I bet most people who wants this thought it was going to be free.. Once they found out it's going to cost money and lots of it, they're going to say hell no to Obamacare.

not to worry, the administration is going to borrow approximately 1T a year for the next three years, it is going to be funded. Of course when Barack is finally out of office it will take $65 per gallon of gas, and a loaf of bread will cost $35 dollars, and a pound of sugar will cost $70.

I think there is another step in there: The now former insurance companies are contracted to run the whole thing but paid for by taxpayers. There is no way these insurance companies and the powerful men that run them are simply going away.

If the number was good, they'd be releasing an official tally daily. They are releasing them monthly because they are terrible.

Hell, even it they signed up 50,000 a month it would take them almost 12 years to get to the 7 Million they need. It is likely less than that, and they delaying the admission it is a total failure as long as possible.

Even if 187K signed up and were approved, that's still 3 years to hit 7 Million.

They need to be signing up 1.4 Million a month to get 7 Mil by Feb 15th. Good luck with that LOL.

Obamacare is going to crash and burn before the 2014 elections.

What denial of service attempt? Every American should be able to access it to see if what is offered suits them. Tis not my fault if the system cannot handle the load. or I have to stay on a long time to get the info I need.

There were some here in Detroit.

Of course they had to send people in person to sign up the illiterate Detroiters (at churches where liberals usually don't care to go to).

Colorado reportedly has its own exchange and in the first week a little over 200 signed up. Not sure what "signed up" really means.

I think the 50k number includes those who managed to get a sign on or whatever, but they haven't gotten to where they actually pick their insurance plan and insurer. That was posted with the source code comments. Something like the code past that point was all Ipsum Lorem filler text that couldn't functionally do anything other than "look good".

I'm not sure if that has changed in the past couple days or not.
