I think it's because he doesn't understand or respect us.  One of my friends (first serious girlfriend from high school) is one of the college educated progressive liberals.  She generally can't accept that someone who disagrees w/ her politics (except me ) isn't either 1) An idiot. 2) Evil.  They underestimate us and completely fail to understand the things that matter to us.  I think he's lost on this issue.  He has no empathy & no understanding of what we value & why so he's flailing around trying to find something that works.

....That is what bothers me about some of these so called "gun owners" they will vote for Obama and for Democrats, when the Democrats have consistently said they will take away our 2nd Amendment Rights............and with that the whole Constitution of The United States!!! wake up...this is about the future of our Country and of our children!!!!.........After our guns are gone the gate will be open for every egomaniac and petty tyrant that can get elected!!!!

The ILHTF has an FFL holder who is actively proselytizing for the Obama/Biden team. But, since we are racists and criminals (according to him), he hasn't really made all that much headway.
