So my wife just sent me a text concerning one of her lazy coworkers.  My wife overheard her telling another lady she might not be able to come to work Monday since we might have 30 mph winds.

We are in the upstate; not anywhere near the coast.

ETA:  It's even more pathetic; she's talking about tomorrow, not Monday.

This women is heavy enough that hurricane winds won't present a problem for her.

I love being able to work from home most days.

Honestly, I would probably bail on working at the office on Friday myself.  I don't want to be on the roads, especially I-85 in crappy weather with those maroons .

They are teachers so working from home isn't an option; and yes, I85 is ridiculous.  We are north of Spartanburg and with all the construction I take back roads to work.

Lookit.  Weaves can go awry in that kind of wind.  Can't be havin' all that and shit.

Exactly....but my wife didn't threaten to turn me in for sexual harassment

My guess is this is the type of person that will use any excuse possible to not come to work...this just happens to be the excuse of the day.

Ding Ding Ding....we have a winner. My wife said she missed 2  1/2 days the first 8 days of school.  She is the poster child for government worker level laziness.

Meh.

Working a job where you cant take off anytime you want and get paid for being gone is overrated.

This.  It may not be the conditions themselves, but other people’s reactions to them that may convince me to take a day off, or work remote, etc.

Its not about weight, it's about sail area and wind load !

Surprised school didn't close for 30 mph winds, here they close for prediction of 3" of snow.

30 mph wind is a normal day in Colorado, and a calm day in Wyoming.

They canceled school here and the most recent forecast is 2-6 inches of rain.

They really got worked up over this and it's going to turn and almost completely miss us... and even if it didnt we are 3.5 hours from the coast.

I thought I heard them mention on the radio(fox news) this morning that 40mph winds are no joke. I thought I mis-heard them, they must have said 140mph winds, maybe it was 40mph after all  lol.

I have ridden my tall assed klr650 on the freeway to work many times in winds nearing 40mph. Kind of knuckle biting(or is it nail biting?) in that situation but otherwise not.

Bikes in 30-40mph wind are not a lot of fun....rode my street glide through it a few times.

I live off of a backroad off of a backroad and there were semis cruising through the "neighborhood" avoiding the interstates at 9pm last night. Weird traffic patterns right now statewide. Folks REALLY going out of their way when it is largely unnecessary yet.

PS, here's a good tool other than the map I posted up earlier to check in on SCDOT webcams:

Went to school in 90-100mph winds.

Been out in 50-60mph winds in my boat.
Gets fun when the tides are running.

Shit, here in Kansas I wouldn't work half the year if a 30mph wind was the deciding factor.
