A friend of mine found this on the floor in his house. The metal ring is about the size of a quarter. What is it?
We have ruled out that it's a dikfer, henway, or Grecian urn. |

I was thinking it used to have some sort of button on it, and the dog tore it off some piece of furniture, and ate the leather off it. He says it doesn't fit that scenario.

The way all those metal prongs are setup it seems like it was meant to be pressed in to a surface like grass/dirt or drywall and the prongs would hold the ring in place. The ring in turn would be a support or protective brace for a wire or post to pass through. Maybe part of a golf course?
