When I go to the range, I don't want to have to carry a tacticool rifle bag out in the driveway and spoil my OPSEC. The bag would need to be for an M&P15. Extra pockets for some mags and other stuff would be cool, too. Thanks!

The "saggy duffel" works pretty well.
Get it dirty and roughed up. Hang a stank ass gym sock out of one of the pockets... Nobody will want to know what lurks inside. |
|
I've used guitar bags before... But I have always wondered if that can be interpreted as a concealed weapon?

light stand bags.
http://tinyurl.com/yb2eq6m I use a yoga bag for my AR pistol. Any bag that doesn't look like a rifle case and people won't think twice about it in your back seat or wherever. |

I would need some skillz to make that one. Pretty cool! |

I like those LaRue cases, along with some others. I don't think you would be fooling many though if you were carrying one.
Tennis bag, Baseball, Soccer bags would be better. The guitar case is probably the best. You just have to worry about someone say walking by your car seeing a guitar case and wanting to steal it because they think there is a guitar inside. |

26" Craftsman toolbox. Seperate your upper from your lower and both fit nicely. Well, provided you have a 16" barrel.

You can go to K-mart, China-mart, Target, etc. and buy a very nice hanging type travel bag; the kind you would store a suit in when traveling. About $25. Buy some foam to line both sides which is quite easy because you're working with basically a rectangular shape and voila', a discreet carry bag. This will hold 3 rifles. When my wife and I go prairie dog hunting or to a 3 gun shoot I use this set up with older used suitcases to keep shoot clothing, pistols, ammo, mags, headsets, holsters and such. I also put trigger locks on my rifles and remove the bolts in them. If something would happen to them they are basically inoperable until someone breaks the locks and comes up with replacement bolts. I am CCW holder so I do keep a loaded handgun on me for protection. I have absolutely no gun related stickers on our vehicles and I don't drive around in camo. So if anyone peeks through the windows it simply looks like I'm traveling. Besides if you use a guitar case someone might ask you to play and if you're not into sports then carrying any sports bag may look out of place. You'll have to come up with excuses when your neighbor asks you to play tennis, golf or join the softball league....

Walmart had some baseball equipment bags on closeout a while back. They work just fine if you find one that is the right length for your needs.

I use a tennis racket bag but the gun has to have a folding stock.
|
|
Snowboard bags also work well.
Although again, it's got some theft potential like guitar cases do. Typical snowboard bag Whatever that looks like, it does not say "rifle". |
|
I use one of these when I go the the range
It says "Golfmate" and has wheels ! Nosy neighbor said last time he saw me roll it out, "Man I wish I was going swing a club" 39 bucks, http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=content&target=products/sports/golf/travel_bags&start=0&zoom=1&selectedSKU=0473-40262-4747 |

Nobody would believe I'm on my way out to play tennis. I use a gig bag close to this. I sewed in velcro straps to secure the rifle. $25 bag and $2 velcro. |

Soft guitar cases work best. I'm an ex-musician and still have semi-floppy hair so I pull it off easily.
Perfect urban/suburban camo. "Going to band practice?" "Yep." |

Guitar's and tools are prime objects for theft as well. Get a old POS duffel bag, nobody wants your old clothes.

Guitar's and tools are prime objects for theft as well. Get a old POS duffel bag, nobody wants your old clothes. A nice larger "sports duffel" with a generic "Puma/Nike/Converse" logo. Use it to soak up a couple spilled sodas... Give it a couple of big nasty motor oil stains... Roll it in the dirt... Add a squirt of mustard... Let the whole mess dry... Wash it like five times. Then give it a fresh coat of nasty. Artfully fill an outside pocket with dirty laundry. Tack in place with hot glue. The idea is to create something that nobody wants. Not even the local crackhead. |
