Can anyone recommend an off shore (preferred) 1/2 day fishing charter in the OBX?

Thought most Off-Shores were full day (due to the travel times).

However...

This Place...

May get you a good answer.

This thread interests me.  I'll be in OBX all next week.

Our usual MO is to just drive out on the beach at Oregon Inlet and surf fish, but I'd actually like to catch something other than skates this time.

I do know a lot of charters run out of OI marina and they have standard rates for full and half-day.  Head boats and private charters.

The one time I went there we fished off the local fishing pier at night with some fancy plug things, caught the holy living shit out of Bluefish and a couple Spanish Mackeral, it was a ton of fun

I'll tell ya one guy to avoid. His name is Ray Pew ( as in Rape You). Not sure about the spelling, but the pronunciation is apparently appropriate. A few buddies did an offshore trip with him over the winter and said he was one of the worst they have been with. He was supposedly dangerous, and not at all succesful. Fishing is fishing, not catching and me an my buddies have done some serious fishing and understand that. Sometimes you just get skunked. My buddy said he could live with that, but near collisions with chanell markers, exceeding speed limits on the water, getting boarded by law enforcement, and an apparent lack of sincere effort on the captains part left my buddies with a bad taste in there mouths.
