Somebody has to make em. They'd be great for hunting hogs.
And no. I'm not talking about arrows. I'm talking about something heavy, that you throw from short range. Bonus points if it vents a CO2 cartridge through the tip like the shark injector knife, or better yet, if it has an impact triggered out the front opening blade. Just make sure you don't hit the dogs.

A sharpened hollow spike that houses cartridge that can slide back onto a fixed firing pin. Could add a spear point around spike and keep the tip a chisel type hypodermic needle profile. I think 410 would probably work best.

We're piercing the hide first so a huge cartridge isn't necessary. 410 would do considerable damage being set off inside a hog. i'm going on a weekend hog hunt up near abilene tomorrow afternoon.....
there's a trap up there and the rule for the trap is, if there's a hog trapped, whoever is willing to get in there with the smallest weapon gets to kill it.... 
i'll get back with you on that one next week! so far it's a ~6" bowie knife...... OP, my boss hunts gators and hogs quite a bit in/around the orlando area.... they regularly use a spear....i think mostly for the thrill i guess, i've never speared one.... supposedly one of the guy's wife got a good sized one last year - took her two or three tries, and she got knocked down and run over once, but she got it! |

I can not find much on the law...and I am surprised that due to the length that they are not considered AOW's but I guess that since they are "ONE" handed use and the barrels are short they are considered pistols.... not sure how they get around the shotgun barrel length restrictions again maybe because the over all length of the used device...
I think a javelin or a spear with a .44mag cartridge would be nice..

There was an episode of "Weapons Masters" where I think they rigged Atlatls with bullet tips to penetrate steel armor. I think 44 mag.
Been a long time since I saw it.

You can throw and rock bar about twenty, twenty five feet with practice... decently accurate. I bet that it would just punch right through a hog.
