One of our commercial tenants left behind a time delay safe with a digital keypad and no combination. It is bolted to the floor, and the keypad is dead (batteries are fine).

What do I need to do to get this thing open?
Can I just buy a new keypad from Amazon and hook it up?

The safe looks like this one I picked up a few years ago, but instead of a dial has the keypad shown above

Not an option, I'll either get it open for my own use or leave it for the new tenant.

I have every reason to believe it is empty, but it's one of those things where you have to know for sure!

Keypad is now working after jiggling wires, hopefully I can reach the former tenant today and get them to cough up the combination.

This thread sucks. If the tenant actually does cough up the combination, what are the chances there is something of value? The safe itself looks valuable, beyond that I doubt it.

It's not overly valuable, it's a simple cash drop safe that you might find at a gas station or restaurant chain. It has no fire rating, it is just relatively heavy and a theft deterrent.

That safe had to be drilled, but I was able to load it into my car and take it to a locksmith.

This stupid thing is bolted to the middle of the floor in one of our buildings, and we need to redo the floor. While I have no qualms about destroying the safe to get it out, I'd rather get it opened and keep it. I left a message for the former tenant last night, not sure if he will give up the combination or not. If no response today, then cutting begins tomorrow.
