The Fudd neckbeard derp is pretty surprising in this thread. This is the best thing Remington has done in a long time. Add a brace and a suppressor and you have a non-NFA compact and quiet killer. I'll buy at least one, maybe two or three. One will be a 6.5 Creedmoor and the other will be either a 308 with a 7-twist barrel or an 8.6mm Creedmoor, probably the latter. This is a hell of a lot simpler than buying a bare receiver from Brownells and building it into a "pistol" from scratch. Better yet, perm attach a can and put a real stock on it for a single-stamp gun.
I'm curious about those non NFA suppressors.
Tell me more about non NFA suppressors I am not aware of any legal ones.

The single stamp would be for the can. Permanently attaching the can would bring the "barrel" length to over 16". Without pinning the can onto it you would have an SBR and can stamp. Pin it and you only have the can.

I really don't blame them for getting in on the early Q Fix craze at a lower price point. Without a stock or brace though, I really don't see the point. But I'm fairly certain that of the people that buy these, very few will be left in stock configuration. Essentially, it seems like a nice, handy, maneuverable gun that's legal in all of the US except for CA (and MA?).

Howa needs to build one like that on their mini action.  I'd be all over a 6.5 grendel.

I like this. I like the Fix but won't buy from that company for my own reasons. a small, folding, braced bolt action 300 would be quiet as shit, plus get around a lot of the "can't hunt with a rifle but can with any caliber pistol" some states like to do. Also seems like a decent gun to have for plinking targets of opportunity.

I plugged the UPC into Gun.deals and although not in stock, I was seeing street price of $760. that's not crazy, especially if you already own braces and/or a can and/or optics, like I'm sure most of us do.

Part of me wants to get one of these with a folding brace, and carry it around with a Shockwave and an 80% Glock as a decent FATF starter pack

I really hate the stupid "finger sticking straight out" pose. Every time I see it, I think that they like to stick that finger up their ass, and then straight into their mouth.

I was kind of eyeing 9 e for the basis of an 8.6 creedmoor project.

Form 1 the gun, add in a folding stock when approved, then have the barrel replaced with a 12.5 inch .338 tube.  Add a can and a 1x6 or 2.5x10 scopw, have a great little backpack gun.

I'll take one in a .308 please!

For those asking why... in Missouri it’s considered a pistol so it can be used during alternative methods season to hunt deer with. This greatly extends the available hunting to for firearms hunters. For example I take my 8” 300blk upper off my sbr lower and place it on my pistol lower and continue hunting.

That and I kind of want one to sbr and shoot 308 subs out of it.

Or use as a short range hunting rifle. I am currently jawing a 45-70 or an ar in 30oblk for short to medium range hunting. This would fit right in as an sbr and I would prefer it over the ar.

No, It's meant to work with a brace. So it is like a short rifle and you work the bolt with your right hand.

It has been pointed out a few times but in case you missed it it is not designed to be a pistol if it was it would have a lh action it is designed to be a sbr host or with a brace

Ot the more likely option is they knew people would sbr/brace it. Now being a left handed shooter I wish they would make lh options

Remington definitely know people are going to put a pistol brace on it...it's in their catalog, page 94;

"Bringing Remington Bolt Action Pistols into the tactical age, the Model 700-CP's Remington Chassis comes equipped with a rear stock QD plate, a folding collapsible SB Tactical Arm Brace and a M-LOK compatible free float handguard."

I think since the printing of the catalog they are doing away with the model including the SB brace, since they make no mention of it during any SHOT press (in fact they appear to be purposefully avoiding the topic.  Maybe the lawyers got involved and think they are poking the bear a little too much).

I think it's a winner...I'll be ordering one in 308.  A 12.5" barrel may not lend itself well to a 1000M shot, but it will certainly hit 500M, even out to 700M with no issues. Accuracy is not dependent on the velocity of a 18" bbl vs a 12.5" bbl.

If the factory barrel accuracy isn't there, I'll re-barrel it with a better barrel.  Not like finding a barrel for a Remington 700 is difficult or super expensive.

I can see a lot of LE departments grabbing this up...very small package for short engagements.

If you don't think a suppressed bolt-action 308 with a folding stock that fits into a tennis racquet bag is sexy, you need to re-evaluate your life.
